SISU PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

SISU Percussion Ensemble, established in 1993, is one of the leading percussion ensembles in Scandinavia, and an important force on the contemporary music scene. Their fearless artistic attitude and playfulness on stage, combined with great stamina, seriousness and precision, have led to numerous collaborations with composers in Norway and abroad, and made a great impression on audiences around the world.

It takes all Kinds to make the World, Sir (2019, WP) is an archive project by Norwegian artist Bjørn Erik Haugen based on film scenes where some non-Western culture plays, dances or communicates with drums. All the selected scenes are characterised by a ‘Western gaze’, emphasising the otherness of foreign of ‘exotic’ cultures.
