SISU PLAYS WALLIN

SISU has worked and collaborated with composer Rolf Wallin and his music for many years. This project celebrates this friendship with a Wallin-only program.

Works included in the concert:

Scratch for amplified balloons.

Stonewave for 3 perc.

Twine for 2 perc.

Purge Version for 3 perc and tape(1984/2006).

Phonotope 4 For 3 perc and live electronic (2006).

This piece includes specially made instruments like glissando flutes, mouth-drum, electrical instruments etc.

Phonotope 4 is one of several versions of the series `Phonotopes`by Rolf Wallin. Phonotope 1 is written for string quartet, Phonotope 2 for accordion, saxophone and double bass. Phontope 3 is written for voices.

The idea with Phonotope 4 was not just to make a new version but also to build a new instrument perfectly suited for the piece, and in that way make an `percussion-tope` incorporated in the piece.

The works by Wallin are of course also performed separately in various concert programs.
