Sisu Percussion ensemble celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a concert at the Ultima festival as well.
Xenakis Pléïades is a milestone work in many ways, written in 1978 and inspired by astronomy and Greek mythology. Xenakis invented a new instrument the sixxen named after the six musicians required and Xenakis.
Composer Lene Grenager, herself an excellent contemporary ensemble musician, compose both acoustic and electronic works, and this new piece, written for SISU, is a tribute to the sound world of Xenakis.

This concert takes place during the World championships in skiing, nordic disiplines 2011.
The concert attempts to make a crossover between art music and long distance skiing.
The central piece this night is “3.33.33”.
It is based on a monologue by the writer Thorvald Steen, about the Finnish skier Veikko Hakulinen, winner of the 50 km in the 1952 Olympics in Oslo. He finished the race in 3 hours 33 minutes 33 seconds.
The piece is written by Geir Johnson in collaboration with SISU
The ensemble also gives a premiere of music by John Erik Kaada
Furthermore we will be joined by friends from Ho Chi Minh Conservatory, Vietnam.
